This blog has lain fallow for so many and such long periods of time throughout the last 7 years that I really don't 'do' guilt over it any more. Nevertheless, you may have noticed some recent efforts to redesign and resurrect it, and I'd be lying if I said this wasn't done partly out of shame.

I want to make more things. I have no master plan behind this vague direction, nor do I even know what the first project will be, but kicking this blog back into gear is a necessary part of it. I'll figure the rest out as I go.

(Note on the new theme: it's stock Mid-Century by Jim Ramsey, and it looks so excellent that I feel no compulsion to modify it (well, I do intend to replace the placeholder logo, obviously). This is a first. Enjoy its nifty AJAX commenting by, er, commenting, why don't you?)

This weblog turned five years old 2 days ago, which explains why I'm maintaining it with the diligence and dependability of a five year old.

On a different note, isn't it odd how the words 'practically' and 'virtually' are synonyms in one sense, and antonyms in another? Wonder if there are any other pairs of words with that property.

Another thing I wondered about today was the maximum practical height that a (regularly shaped) jelly could be before it would collapse under its own weight (my guess: about 30cm).

Worrying about entries turning out like this one is the reason I don't blog very often.
